What does a Day of Coordinator do?

It's quite simple, a Day of Coordinator is responsible for making sure that your special day and all the
details that go into it are executed to perfection. This includes in overseeing
vendors, managing a timeline, and taking care of those last minute details and
challenges that may occur.

I know what you're thinking... I can do all those things. In reality, yes, you probably can; but do you really want to worry about all the itty bitty details of your big day. The bride's job, the mother of the bride's job, the maid of honor's job, and the bridal party's job on this special occasion is to focus on the bride and to spend this wonderful day with her. The details of vendors and timeline should not even
cross her path that day. This is the main reason, a Day of Coordinator is important.
The coordinator is hired to do just those things.

The price range of Day of Coordinators differ depending on the responsibilities that are
requested and needed. Another cost determination may be your expected guest count.
A Day of Coordinator is not to be confused with a Planner. A Planner executes all the
details of your day from start to finish. So, if you feel you want help from the beginning
of planning to your final walk to your get-away car then a planner is a great route. If you just
want to make sure your big day is seamless then a Day of Coordinator is a great option
to consider.

We want to share our thoughts and intentions here in response to the concerns and questions of our current bridal couples, families, and you who are planning your weddings and celebrations here in the future.

Please know that we desire that every one of you gets to have the wedding of your dreams, exactly as you have been planning. We also know that you are very concerned about what is going to be allowable at The Barn at Love Farms for your date.

We are following the guidelines set forth for us as time is going by, hoping and praying that this Virus is soon eradicated so that everything returns to our "normal" at The Barn at Love Farms as soon as possible. And that
your wedding vows and celebrations can go on with All those you love in attendance!

So...
We will watch and wait, just like you. We will allow all that is allowed to us as far as social
gathering and distancing. While we believe that, at any given time, people who are remotely ill
should always be courteous and stay home from these types of events-and that most people have the good sense to do that.
We also know, without a doubt, that there are those who just won't comply. And because it is so important that grandparents and other family membersand friends who are in a high risk category should be able to attend the wedding, we know that you want your wedding, but you want their safety too.

I have a ring! Now what?

Getting engaged is so so exciting. And you need to take a day or two to enjoy the realization that You're Getting Married- and stare at your new engagement ring! But you ultimately need to get started planning your wedding. But where do you even begin?
The first thing your friends and family will ask is, "When's the big date?" While you'd really like to give them a quick answer, in reality, you can't set a date until you make a few other decisions--such as choosing and book a venue with an acceptable date. Since the average engagement is now 12-15 months, you need to settle on a season and area and plan around other family events and special occasions.

Find AND BOOK your wedding venue. Do this before you think about a dress (think seasonal for wedding dresses too!). Do you want Outdoors or in (or a place that offers both), Church or Cathedral, Barn, plantation, beach? Near home or destination? Elegant, rustic, romantic, vintage, boho, glam? All of this plays into the type of Venue you decide on for your wedding.
Set your Wedding Budget. Decide who is paying for what and how much everyone is planning to contribute. This will affect the number of guests, caterer, etc, etc.
Choose your Wedding Party. Now it's Your turn to ask, "Will you stand by us when we tie the knot?" Taking into consideration who will be able to include the attire you choose for them in their budget; who can give of their time to help you, as needed; and be sure to include consideration for the expense of the showers, parties, bachelorette and bachelor weekends, if you plan to do these. In a word, Be considerate and thankful to each one for All that goes with being in the wedding party!
Decide on your Guest List. This may be determined by the number of people your ceremony or reception site will accommodate. Keep in mind that the more guests that are invited-the larger the budget must be. For example, Most caterers charge "per head".
Hire your Wedding Vendors. Interview and hire the Caterer, photographer/videographer, live musicians for the ceremony, dj or band for the reception, florist, etc. Consider a Wedding Planner or Coordinator if you have trouble making up your mind or don't live near the ceremony/reception area. DON'T FORGET THAT YOUR VENUE MAY BE ABLE TO POINT YOU TO SOME AWESOME VENDORS THAT HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB THERE! But ask if they insist you use their vendors or can choose your own.
Shop for your Wedding Dress. Most bridal stores recommend ordering your dress at least six months before the wedding to insure plenty of time for it to arrive and be altered to fit you perfectly. This experience is supposed to be fun-not stressful. Only take a few with you who will support your thoughts and feelings. Maybe just you and your parents, or you and a sister, or a best friend. Remember, the more opinions there are, the harder it is to make a decision-which needs to ultimately be Yours anyway. Maybe just take the bridesmaids when you choose Their attire.
Register for wedding gifts. No, that's not selfish or greedy. Friends and family want to shower you with gifts for your new home and family, so make it easy on them to give you what you truly desire. And remember to choose a variety of price point items so that everyone feels great about heartfelt giving.
Insure your Ring. This is a must do! This can be done through your rental or home owner's policy you already have in place. It's called a jewelry rider and is important for your peace of mind-since this is a major investment.
Have your engagement photo session. Making those memories is so important and using a photo on your Save the Dates is always fun for your guest list to receive and for you to give.
Decide on and order your invitations. Make them fit the type of wedding and venue you have chosen. Be confident in your decisions, since they fit your own personality, and don't worry about what anyone else thinks And be sure to enjoy every minute of the planning. This should be a one and only for you and yours and the memories you make along the way will be priceless!

I want to party all night! How long is too long?

My wedding day is the most dreamed of and anticipated fun day of my life! Right? So I want to get the most out of that one day that I can. I want to party all night with everyone invited to my wedding and reception!
But what is the reality and the time frame I need to expect?

Most Christian or civil wedding ceremonies last 15-20 minutes unless there are special readings, music, etc.
If there are pictures taken after the ceremony, then the reception and party begins about 30 minutes later.
Most musicians will play for a maximum of 4 hours and photographers and videographers leave 3-4 hours after your ceremony.
You begin to lose a good number of guests after the 2 1/2-3 hour time frame, leaving you with mostly wedding party and a few of your closest friends after that.

While some couples choose a “fake” departure before the photographer leaves. this signals to guests that the party is finished. They tend to leave even if you go back in to continue your party.
Planning your departure about 3 1/2-4 hours after the ceremony helps you to depart on an upbeat note and leaves your guests with the lingering impression that the celebration was special and fun, and they get to see the joy of you happily leaving to begin your new life as husband and wife. And that, along with a beautiful bride, a handsome groom and a great party will be the long remembered take away from your beautiful day!

It can't rain on my wedding day...

The fear of every bride who desires to get married outside is "what if it rains on my wedding day"?
If it even begins to drizzle for a second, everyone is quick to offer the advice that rain is good luck on your wedding day. And if you're like most brides-that doesn't EVEN begin to make you feel any better!

When choosing your venue for an outdoor wedding-you need to consider a few key factors:
1-Where is my dream ceremony site (probably the reason you chose this particular venue anyway.)?
2-In case of rain: does the venue have an adequate indoor facility that plan B can offer a beautiful ceremony setting as well?
3-Are the owners/manager willing to hold off until the 11th hour before moving the ceremony inside?
Many venue managers want to move the ceremony inside based strictly on the weather forecast.
4-Do your guests have a place to duck under if an impromptu shower dumps its contents at the last minute?
Or do they have to run into your beautifully set reception area-dripping all over your beautiful tables capes?

At The Barn at Love Farms venue we are committed to making every effort to fulfill the wishes of our bridal couples. So rest assured that we will make every effort to accommodate your request for an outdoor ceremony if at all possible. Know that there is a certain amount of time necessary to "flip" the venue when plan B is necessary, but that time will be pushed back as long as possible when there is a chance that the rain will subside and the sun will return to shine on your exchange of vows outside of the Barn. In case of the need to move indoors-Your decorations will fit beautifully inside our Barn where you can still walk a long aisle from our Bridal Suite to your waiting groom as your guests enjoy the beauty of the moment.
And our 1600 square foot porch provides shelter if your guests should need it-with lots of ceiling fans to dry those drizzles!
Never settle for 2nd best and NEVER rely on luck!

Bridesmaids-2 or 12?

It is easy to get so excited over your new engagement that you want to share it with all of your girlfriends. And in the heat of the moment, you want ask everyone who is excited with you to stand up at the altar beside you.

Before your excitement overtakes your best judgement, there are a few things you might consider before you ask your bridesmaids:
1. Does she approve of your finance'-and this marriage? If she has not been your biggest supporter of this relationship; she might not be the best of the best buds to include on this path to the altar.
2. Is the wedding formal or informal? Tradition has it that most formal weddings have larger bridal parties whereas, a with a less formal wedding may want to only include your sister, sister-in-law and your bff. This holds true whether you are having a church wedding or even at a Barn wedding venue. You can still have this mass of girlfriends celebrating with you at your bridal shower, bachelorette party, wedding and reception. (They may be thrilled that they don't have to buy that never-to-be-worn-again dress!)
3. Will you be friends forever? Step back a moment and ask yourself if you will still be doing things together often, even if it's just chatting regularly in a year, or in 5 years? Will you really, REALLY be there for each other through the good years and the challenging days?
4. Can she afford all of the expense and responsibility that is necessary when being a bridesmaid? Giving a bridal shower, buying the dress, attending the bachelorette party, and buying the wedding gift can all add up. Some are so grateful to celebrate with you-without the obligatory purchases that go with being in the wedding party.

All that being said. DO include those closest to you and those who will remain close and stand by you, not just on that beautiful day, but for years and years to come.
And DO choose those who will make you laugh and help calm your nerves on the way to the altar-whether it's under a beautiful old oak tree or at the front of the cathedral.

April showers and wedding flowers

Wondering how to include beautiful fresh flowers without breaking your wedding budget? Here are a few suggestions based on what some of the budget savvy brides have done recently at The Barn at Love Farms. And take advantage of all of the flowers popping up as a result of the spring showers.
Do: consult with a florist. Most good florists are happy to help you whittle down that initial flower bill with ways to include flowers for the ceremony venue and inside the barn - often using 1 beautiful arrangement for the ceremony, and then moving it inside to a focal table for the reception. They will help you to make your floral budget a reality. If they don't, consult another florist.
Do: splurge on the bridal bouquet and, to a lesser degree, on the bridesmaids bouquets. These can also be placed in beautiful containers in a special place-like beside your guest book as friends enter to write a special wish (and remember to include enough space in whatever you use as a guest book so they can write a sentence or two of well wishes). Also, have the florist include at least one of your favorite flowers in your bouquet if they are in season. Flowers that aren't in season will cost more than those that are readily available.
Don't: feel that you have to purchase all of your flowers from a single vendor. Many farmers' markets have beautiful blooms available. Check those markets, as well as grocery stores and wholesale clubs several months in advance to see what will be available in the season you say your marriage vows. If you can DIY a few blossoms into a glass vase, a small paint can from a hardware store, or even into a rustic Mason jar, then these will be very pretty sitting down the aisle and then on a few guest tables.
Don't: assume that you need flowers on every table at the wedding reception. Use flowers on every other table and the room will still have that freshness and beauty that flowers offer.
Do: Make use of the many decorations offered by venues such as The Barn at Love Farms for the other table and ceremony site decor. Lanterns, candles, vases and centerpiece holders go a long way in making your wedding unique.
Do: Use lots of greenery. It can be a very budget friendly and beautiful accessory. Imagine lots of greens with just a flower or two added in.

Did you know that most couples get engaged in November and December? So January and February are busy months at The Barn at Love Farms. Wedding couples are reserving barn wedding venue dates.
